WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR WATER HEATER
Admin • December 14, 2016

Have you ever gone to take a hot shower only to find that the water is still cold? This is a sign that your water heater is broken or needs to be replaced. Repairing the water heater is much less expensive than having to replace the entire unit. There are some easy things you can do to determine how to get hot water back in your home.
CHECK THE AGE
Most water heaters last about 10 years, depending on how it was installed, the quality of water and the design. You can check the age of the water heater by looking at the serial number.
LISTEN FOR ODD SOUNDS
This may sound silly, but listen to the water heater as it attempts to heat up water. If it makes a lot of noise, there may be a buildup of hardened sediment. This not only causes damage to the tank but also makes it less efficient and is a sign that the water heater is ready to be replaced.
CHECK FOR LEAKS
Look around the water heater. If you notice water anywhere, there is a good chance the unit is leaking and needs to be replaced.
